Stephen Mougin is a teacher, guitar player (Sam Bush Band), songwriter, and producer, engineer and label owner at Dark Shadow Recording. He received his degree in music education at UMASS - Amherst, where he studied vocal coaching. After a high school music teaching job, Mougin moved to Nashville to try his hand at playing music professionally in 2002, finding a gig playing mandolin with Valerie Smith. In 2005, Mougin launched Dark Shadow Recording out of his home, producing and engineering records out of his own home recording studio. In 2006, "Mojo" joined Sam Bush Band as lead guitar player. Dark Shadow Recording has Becky Buller, The Rigneys, and Nedski & Mojo on its label. Mougin also plays with Ned Luberecki (Nedski & Mojo) and teaches workshops on the road.
